The Challenge
WMU faced challenges with its existing security system, needing an upgrade to better protect its students and staff. Moss stepped in to assess their needs, demonstrating our commitment to understanding the unique security requirements of Higher Education. Our expertise allowed us to identify gaps in their security infrastructure and propose tailored solutions.
The Solution
Moss partnered with Hanwha to implement advanced video surveillance and monitoring capabilities with Wisenet WAVE VMS. As a Platinum Partner, Moss brought our extensive experience and knowledge to the project, ensuring that the system was not only effective but also user-friendly for WMU staff. This collaboration highlights the importance of having an expert guide in security solutions, allowing WMU to focus on its core mission of education.
The Results
The impact of WMU’s upgrade has been dramatic. The university increased exterior camera coverage from less than 5% to more than 90%, effectively doubling the overall number of views to between 2,500 to 3,000 across campus.
Not only have crime prevention and response times improved, but the new system’s flexibility allows the Department to assign role-based access to different campus departments, including landscaping and dining services.
“When I talk to parents, the number one concern that they have about their kids coming to our campus is safety,” said Merlo. “With the systems that we have in place, without any questions, their sons and daughters are gong to be safe here.” Moss’ role as the expert guide in this project has been essential in ensuring that the new system meets the university’s needs and exceeds expectations.
